Quick Download click here: Market XS Data Adaptor 1
Uploaded 21th June 2006
MarketXS Pro users access real-time data through the MarketXS DDE Server, which is supplied as standard with MarketXS Pro.
Which Adaptor should I use?
All of the Data Adaptors work with MarketXS. You only need one. Which one suits you best will depend on what DealXL applications you intend to use. Read the brief explanations below each adaptor to decide which is the best for you. If still in doubt, download Data Adaptor 1.
Any of the Data Adaptors below can be further configured by us to match your needs precisely.
1. Data Adaptor 1 Download...
This Data Adaptor requests prices from a mix of GTIS, Tullets and ICAP. This Adaptor is recommended for use with CCC, FFF, Grid and Fra Pricing. It uses the best mix of Spots, Fwds and Depos from multiple data sources (GTIS, TFI and ICP) to gain the widest coverage of best prices. Click here to see what data comes from where. Note that this Adaptor also request Futures. Futures Prices are required by the 'Forwards from Futures' and the 'Fra Pricing from Futures' sheets. Suitable for use with all sheets - CCC, FFF, Grid and Fra Pricing.
2. Data Adaptor 2 Download...
This Adaptor requests all data, (Spots Fwds and Cash) from the GTIS source only. There are no requests made to Optional Services such as Tullets or ICAP, but Futures prices are included.
Suitable for use with all sheets - CCC, FFF, Grid and Fra Pricing.
3. Data Adaptor 3 Download...
This Data Adaptor should be used if you use 'Fra Pricing from Futures' only. It only contains requests for Futures and Cash prices needed for Fra Pricing. It contains no requests for Spots or Fwds.
Note that each of the above Adaptors are called DSL_DA.XLS. Therefore, if you wish to download and store more than one, you will need to store them in different folders to avoid overwriting.
Technical Notes
DDE Server
If the MarketXS Server is not already setup to auto-start, you will need to start the DDE Server manually. The DDE Server is normally located at C:\Program Files\MarketXS\MarketXS DDEServer\MXS.exe
What do I do with this Data Adaptor when it has downloaded?
Save the file DSL_DA.XLS to the same folder that contains the sheets you will use (usually c:\dealxl\sheets). The Adaptor will either auto-start when any DealXL sheet is opened, or it may need to be fired manually.
Excel delays
Depending on the Adaptor used, Excel may be busy making links to the DDE Server, to the point where you may think Excel has hung. Fear not, Excel may be tied up for up to 1 minute, but will spring back to life as soon as all links are made.
Data Notes
To drive DealXL, live Spot FX rates, FX Forward rates, Interest Rate Futures and Cash Deposit prices are needed. MarketXS provide the majority of these prices in their GTIS feed. Other optional sources are available however, e.g. Tullets or ICAP. There are several reasons to want to use Tullets or ICAP
- If the generic source does not supply any particular currency's rates
- The optional Service may provide more detailed quotes e.g. intermediate periods such as 4 months, 5 months, 7 months etc.
- User Preference
- You wish to know and work with data whose source you understand
The general format of data requests for each source is:
GTIS: =MXS|Stream!'SGBPUSD:GTIS/BID'
TFI: =MXS|STREAM!'SPTGBPUSDSPT:TFI/BID'
ICP: =MXS|STREAM!'SGBPUSD:ICP/BID'
